Having e-mailed John Curry about the new plan for these rules it appears an updated edition will be available hopefully late January from the History of Wargaming site by John Curry. It will be a printed version.

Thank you. If this is a printed product, presumably there will be a charge? If so, does this not go against the intention of the author to make them available for free?

GGouveia13 Dec 2017 11:57 a.m. PST

Yes they discussed it together and decided to come up with a new version in print. I have no problem with that. The author must have changed his mind after seeing the interest in the rules.

That's interesting. I wonder if this version will include any of rhe amendments suggested by the Devon Group?

According to the Devon blog the John Curry version will be a free PDF

Initially that was the thought but that was changed when they got into the project. I don't mind paying a few bucks for it.

As long as it is updated, I will be content to divvy up for a set of rules.

Thanks for the update GGouveia.

I've been keeping an eye on the History of Wargaming site wondering when they would appear.

I'm also happy to pay a reasonable price for the amended version.

Wonder if, with a bit of tinkering, if they would work "in reverse" as it were for a few 1940 Blitz or 1944 Operation Steinbock games of Luftwaffe bombers over the UK opposed by Defiant, Blenheim, Beaufighter or Mossie night fighters?

alan L14 Dec 2017 7:58 a.m. PST

Was it mentioned if this would simply be a reprint of the original, or an updated version?

GGouveia14 Dec 2017 10:44 a.m. PST

Updated version.

alan L14 Dec 2017 3:34 p.m. PST

Sounds good.

Appears to be a similar set of rules in the updated Featherstone book on Aerial Warfare. Just received mine today.

Good news for those interested in these rules.

I see from the solo wargames section of Wargaming.co site that John Curry expects to release the rules on 23 February 2018 in pdf format. Price is 12.95 pounds plus postage.

How convenient, my birthday. Looks like I have my present to myself. As if my wife would buy it.

You can order now. I placed my order in last night.

Link to order is here:

Looking forward to your review when you get them. I hope they have been updated, as suggested.

alan L28 Feb 2018 4:10 a.m. PST

Did your set of rules arrive yet?

alan L05 Mar 2018 5:23 a.m. PST

Anyone bought these yet and can oblige with a review?

GGouveia09 Mar 2018 1:34 p.m. PST

Nope, still waiting. :(

alan L10 Mar 2018 2:56 p.m. PST

Thanks for the update. It is strange that they are not sold as pdfs, rather than hard copies.

Kiwi Red One13 Mar 2018 4:49 p.m. PST

The site entry gives an updated definate publication date of 11 March so they are now available. Ordered a set accordingly. They do appear only to be available as printed version so far so I now have to wait a few more days for them to arrive.

I agree that in my case a pdf download would be great but the pro and cons of that debate have been much discussed elsewhere in the past.

Looking forward to playing these.
