After 31 years, I've collected my last figure. Well, the last one of those I want and I know to be available, see below.
Vikings – probably reduce, possibly sell or trade off, but zero reason to buy more
Robin Hood – more than enough, nothing needed
Dumas' Musketeers – ditto
Pirates – way more than enough (majority painted, balance primed and ready)
French and Indian War – ditto (and the majority painted or in process, all primed)
American Revolution – way, way more than enough (some primed, all the cavalry and a bit more)
Indian Mutiny – ditto (some painted and in process)
American Civil War – more than enough with extras (large numbers painted with more in process)
Old West/Plains Wars – vast numbers, nothing needed (a good chunk primed)
Anglo-Egyptian Sudan – sell or keep (don't need, if keep, reduce)
French Foreign Legion – ditto (don't need, if keep, reduce)
Slightly Cracked Colonials – have plenty (could use more animals but no one makes what I seek at this time, at least to my knowledge)
Boxer Rebellion – recent order and sort this very day says done (and lots of them, will list later, too late tonight)
And that's it for figures.
More buildings to buy for the Boxers and possibly others, maybe some wagons if they become available, a few figures I'd like but no one makes them to my knowledge (and I've been hunting), and – as said – more animals.
But, unless either someone makes figures that meet my desires, or I discover someone does make them, or I commission them, I don't have a single figure on any buy list. That hasn't been true since 1986 when I got going. I do plan to add some gun models when I order more Blue Moon Boxer buildings but that doesn't count as a figure. So, buildings and terrain to add – but not figures that are available.
Temptation may strike if Lancashire Games expands their German East Africa range since that is a campaign of considerable interest and there is some rather limited danger of moving back into the Seven Years War (though possibly in a smaller scale than 15 mm which is what all of the above is in). Doubtful, but not impossible, I might to something with Vietnam. But, really, unlikely to add more. Just too darn much to paint.
Feels good. Now I just need to paint everything. Might need to live an extra 31 years to get there, though – beyond a reasonable expectation of another 30 years from now based on my parent's age and health.
However, for those who create the product, here is my wish list, all in 15 mm, of course:
Horse Drawn Hearse
Surrey
Brougham – horse drawn
Old West wagon driver set
Old West chain gang and prison guards
Chimpanzees
Baboons
Various gazelles/antelopes for Africa
Lions
Cheetahs
Leopards
Vultures!! various types at a kill
Flamingos
Other large Africa birds
Mountain lions and bobcats for North America
Want my money for figures? Got to make items on my list.
That more or less covers it. If you know of anything that is already produced in 15 mm that is on my wish list, I'd love to here about it.
Haven't done a detailed count but I'm guessing, within reason, I'm between 33,000 and 34,000 figures. That seems like enough to me.
Wait a minute, this list might reduce my leverage with getting what I want! Well, oh well.
About 4,600 already painted and a bit more than that (4-5K), roughly, primed and ready for paint (or partly painted)
