…Over Iraq. "In early 2004, as controversy over the decision to invade Iraq the year prior mounted, Pres. George W. Bush endured accusations his administration had decided from the very beginning to take military action to force regime change in Baghdad. Paul H. O'Neill, Bush's secretary of the treasury until his dismissal in December 2002, was the subject of Ron Suskind's book The Price of Loyalty. Highly-critical of the administration, O'Neill asserted that attacking Iraq was considered a top priority during the early days of the 43rd presidency and had even drawn up plans for doing so. Shortly after the book's release in January 2004, Bush was questioned regarding O'Neill's allegations during a press conference. "Like the previous administration, we were for regime change. And in the initial stages of the administration, you might remember, we were dealing with Desert Badger or flyovers, and fly-betweens and looks And so, we were fashioning policy along those lines…" Main page warisboring.com/48285-2 Amicalement Armand

The Pentagon (or actually the Combatant Commanders) have a wide range of contingency plans for a wide range of situations. It's the primary function of Combatant Command staffs to plan for various contingencies. It should not surprise anyone that we have plans to deal with possible contingencies. |

Very true, there are many of OPLANS, etc. for many contingencies. Some of those OPLANs, many would be surprised to hear what they are for as well. |

Legion 4 and Apache 6, Yes, the military has high-level logistical plans for almost every contingency and situation that can arise for our national security that the President can modify (ie: screw up). I would not be surprised if they currently have a contingency plan for the Army Rangers to take the main airport in Switzerland and take control of the country. All of these plans are "secret" and exist when the President takes office. He rarely needs to come up with new plans. In the spring of 1973, I was at HQ Marine Corps at Quantico and took part in the annual exercise for the 1st and 3rd Marine Divisions to invade North Vietnam. "Secret Plans" to invade North Vietnam? OMG!!!! Right now I'll bet every branch of the US Armed Forces has a "secret plan" to recommend to the President to solve the problem in North Korea. Everything from kidnapping Lil' Rocket Man to assassination to invasion and nuking the country. In my opinion more fake news. Wolfhag |
