This is about an eight of the gaming table for an Istvaan III game we are planning to run at Historicon this year. I have one of the other tiles done so far so there is still a lot of work to do. I got this about week from now last year.
I put some work into it then but changed directions and reprimed the whole thing about three weeks ago. I like the way it turned out. I'll probably tweak it as we go forward as there are probably details that I'll notice that I missed. I might do some more blue stripes on it and when I find my WE decals I'll put them on for sure.
It will be used for other games between now and then of course. I was thinking about using it for the scenario at the end of the Last Heretic but I don't have any Word Bearers and to paint it up in other than WE, TS or VF colours seemed to be a bit of a waste. It isn't like I have a ton of room to store multiple ones of this thing.
Or do I? hmmm. |

Amazing! What is also amazing is the cost of the Thunderhawk and that you would "sacrifice" the model for the greater good of a beautiful piece of terrain!!! Enjoy it as it is fantastic. |

Well, maybe it isn't all that: link |

Really good work there. I am also working on a large crashed vehicle too. It's not a 40k ship tho. I am working on detailing the cockpit right now. |

That's really kewl Scott. Did you use an airbrush? |

I did not. I just used a regular old brush. |

Very nice. And now that they have raised the point cost of the Thunderhawk by 500 (?!?!?), I might as well make mine into terrain ! |

For my purposes it will be the same points, but then I mostly play 30K. Do you think they did that because the new edition makes vehicles so hard to kill? |

A beautiful piece! Digging through my old 40K stuff I came across a resin Baneblade I'd never built. The new plastic kits are so much nicer I'm thinking about converting the resin one to a wreck for a terrain piece. |

That sounds like a good idea. Terrain is so much more important for the look of a game than the figures in most cases. It is completely worth it to have the best looking stuff you can do/afford. |

I think the reason they raised the points of the Thunderhawk and many other Forge World vehicles so much is because the competitive powergamers have GW's ear and they don't like Forge World, because its too expensive to use when you change your army every time a codex is released. I used my Thunderhawk in a major tournament and I won some and lost some. The Thunderhawk was destroyed by Grey Knights (smite and shooting), Ynarri (the special character killed it in close combat), and Tau (just shot it to death). 500 points is a drastic and ridiculous change that makes it unusable. |

I'm certainly looking forward to playing a game with it. |
