I'm after some bases for my 6mm WWII forces.
Anyone know where I can find MDF bases in North America?

Thanks

Litko aerosystems is your friend!

Litko. But, I'd recommend plywood instead of MDF. Much less likely to warp.

I have had really good service from Warsenal in Florida.
The sell mdf and other basing options. Plus they offer wallet friendly First Class postage grin

I can custom cut whatever sizes you are looking for.

I would definitely go with Litko, and definitely go with plywood over MDF--as Rich notes--much less likely to warp.

There's also Six Squared Studios in Canada.

Joerg,

Do you have ability to cut irregular bases, for use as tree or forest bases? Miss the old Renaissance Ink resin bases.

Artist's mounting or matte board is another option. It's very thick cardboard. You can buy it in huge sheets reasonably from any art shop.
No poisonous dust when you cut it like you get from mdf.

Also, steel sheet.

I've never had any problems with MDF warping.

I've never known MDF bases to warp.

I have heard that the material known as MDF in Britain is not the same stuff that Amercans call MDF. Maybe this is the reason for our varying experiences?

MDF in the UK is often known as HDF in the States.

MDF in the States sometimes known as Masonite is known as Hardboard in the UK.

Or something very close to what I have said.

@ pzivh43:

Yes, I can cut irregular shapes!
You just need to let me know what exactly you are looking for.
Send me an email at thingsfromthebasement@gmail.com and we can discuss any details.

Thanks Jim. That would make sense, hardboard is rubbish and warps really easily!

DougEagle30 Dec 2017 11:17 a.m. PST

Thanks guys.
