I recently experimented with mixing faux fur, traditional flocks, and resin to create wetlands. I am pretty pleased with the results, check out my tutorial below if interested.

Nice one. Thanks.

Oh man. I'm going to watch that one frame by frame.

Red, do you start off with a photo of an actual swamp, and then check the work against it during each stage, or is all of this from memory and creative juices?

Thanks.

Dan
PS. I still want to do a flooded Post Apocalyptic terrain board.

This is a good tutorial. I've been toying with some swamp ideas lately but haven't been sure where to start. I think this fits the bill perfectly. Thanks for posting!

Sorry what's "Modge Podge" or "Hodge Podge", is it just a brand of PVA glue ?

Thanks for watching guys! I used some pictures of English fens and grasslands as inspiration. I've started rely more on reference pictures to get realistic color or else I tend to make everything too green. I think this technique would be awesome for post-apoc terrain…think I may have to make some sunken nurgle terrain.

Very cool, thanks for the tutorial!

The finial part is "Mod Podge"

It is a craft media common in the USA.
Not PVA but an acrylic media as sold for painting with tube still acrylic artist paints.

If you do not what to make the wavy surface, you can also use Future Floor Finish which is a Johnson's product which has changed names over time, but is also an acrylic media:

What I've done for a wetlands/swamp was to engrave into a slightly thicker mdf for the wetter sections, then get the sticky back floral moss sheets from the floral section of the craft store with some areas left open for either rocky/sandy areas or for more water areas…or where trees/boulders would be.
