Italeri fast build jeeps + AB British jeep crews, given a quick paintjob… for use as a Forward HQ ride and a recce option in Battlegroup Overlord.

Very nice, I like everything but especially the weathering.

Very nice mate as usual .

Is it just me or does the top pic look like the cast of Dad's Army?

Monotonously excellent Meister Piers.

Andy ONeill28 Nov 2017 12:48 p.m. PST

Great stuff piers.

@Skarper

No I don't see any resemblance to the cast of Dad's Army in these figures but I'm fairly old as well as British and have watched Dad's Army since it first came out in 1968.

I am ignoring any assessment of the cast in the abysmal 2016 version.

Nice models though!

Beautifully done, you put my work in larger scales to shame!

Skarper28 Nov 2017 8:44 p.m. PST

The 2016 ripoff I stopped watching after 15 minutes. The cast are very good actors but the shoes are just too big for them to fill. Absolutely no need for it.

The resemblance is slight. Mainwaring is the officer, Godfrey is in the right seat of the other jeep with Pike behind sulking.

Perhaps it's all in my mind, and it only works in the first photo.

It does show how good the sculpts are, putting most 28mm to shame, IMO.

very nice. Is the green of British jeeps supposed to be different for the US green?

The models and painting like all your projects Piers are a delight. There is something however a little untypical about these models. I stand to be corrected but the British used jeeps for liason and transport not for combat. Putting armed troops and radios into them doesn't sit well with me for some reason, a bit too American perhaps. There are a lot of subtle differences between US and British use of the same equipment, for example British tanks rarely had .50 cals fitted , British officers didn't carry sidearms and radios weren't as prevelant as they were in the US army. Just a thought.

Some figures in the top pic look like some characters from Dad's Army to me.

per ardua10 Dec 2017 2:50 a.m. PST

I agree that the top picture does look like Dad's Army characters, just the top picture angle.
Also did jeeps use bridge plates? Just thinking which vehicle bridge wouldn't be able to take a jeep.

Great painting though, excellent.

Andy ONeill10 Dec 2017 7:28 a.m. PST

In theory, all british vehicles were supposed to have a bridge rating.
Tanks had them sprayed on, other vehicles had a disk. Jeeps fairly often had them attached to the radiator iirc.
Or at least, that is my understanding.
