Jarrovian – There are some good options out there. Hobby Lobby in the US carries Iwata, which are highly regarded. I like the Grex of course, but it's pricey and isn't carried by Hobby Lobby. There is a very similar Iwata airbrush, which Hobby Lobby might carry. I like Hobby Lobby because it has a 40% off coupon nearly every week, which helps.
You'll also want a good compressor, which will run as much as the airbrush. I'd also go ahead and buy an extra needle and a spare nozzle (if it's particularly small on your airbrush). And of course, thinner for your paints, a can of lacquer thinner and an airbrush cleaning jar (Harbor Freight has a cheap one that works fine for 1/3 the cost you'll pay elsewhere).
Harbor Freight has very cheap airbrushes, but I don't know much about them. There are a number of YouTube videos on them, so you might check them out.
Find a good cleaning video on Youtube for the airbrush you buy.
Practice thinning paints (or stay with airbrush specific paints like Vallejo Model Air or Testor's Acryl). Then practice, practice. And clean obsessively after every session. Take your brush apart over and over again until you can put it back together like Forrest Gump. Oh and this guy is an airbrush nut – link .
For me airbrushes are like high maintenance, gorgeous women. A lot of trouble and aggravating most of the time. But when it's good, it's real good :)
