A friend has acquired a US force to oppose my Mexicans, and wants to paint his figures using the AP Quickshade system. Has anyone already done this, and if so, what base colour did you use? I'm thinking probably Goblin Green – or an equivalent shade of bright grass green if he opts for another brand – combined with Dark Tone might be the way to go. |

I would go with a coyote yellow vs the olive drab. I'm assuming the process will darken the tone. |

I used Nutmeg for my Americans. |

The uniform colour varies, often dramatically, in every set of colour plates I look at – even between two books by the same author: Gregory J. W. Urwin's histories of the US Infantry and the US Cavalry for Blandford. The regulation shade was olive drab, which suggests a greyish green; and indeed, some of the artists have used an underlying light grey-green, shaded with a red tinged brown. I like this effect, so I plan to change my recommendation from Goblin Green to a light grey-green spray can, combined with Strong Tone Quickshade (he'll be doing the painting and I'll be 'dipping' the figures… with a brush). The closest match in the AP spray can range appears to be Necrotic Flesh. It seems that trousers were often of a browner shade, the base for which should be a light, pink-tinged brown. Can anyone suggest a good bottled colour for this? |

I've noticed while viewing online photos of figures painted with AP Necrotic Flesh that they sometimes have a yellowish cast. This might just be due to the lighting conditions of the photo shoot, but can anyone who's used this shade tell me if the real-world effect matches the grey-green shade on the sample disc on the can cap? |
