I've painted a DBA Gallic army many years ago, and I've recently decided to complete it and repair what needs to be.

Before I begin to paint, I wanted to take a few pictures of the army as is, so that I can compare with the result.

Here you are the figures on my desk before any modification:

To be followed, of course :)

Look forward to seeing the final product.

I will be undertaking a similar task with leftover Biblical armies.

Cheers,
Robert

Thank you for your comment. I would be interested to see your armies, the Bronze Age is one of my favorite period. I am also working on a New Kingdom Egypt army, and I need inspiration for the Hittites. Did you post pictures in this forum, or somewhere on the net ?

I like these a lot

Those are very inspiring, Philotep! The timing happens to be perfect, as I'm working up steam to begin my own Gallic project in 54mm. I may well use some of those Hat figures in the bigger scale. Italeri used to make some great figures as well, but alas, they're OOP.

Best of luck with your project!

Thank you.

@Gone Fishing: Is your army to be seen somewhere in these pages, or elsewhere on the net ?

I restored the first element, two javelinmen as Light Infantry.

The element before:

Nice improvement there – will be good to see the completed army. Some lovely figures, and good to see Airfix still cutting the mustard

Marc@work: Technically ECSI/Revell, but the sentiment is there….

@Dean AKI: there are also some old Airfix minis in this army, as can be seen on other pictures on the blog. And a few metal figures by Newline Design. The two javelinmen above are Italeri, and the heavy cavalry is by Hät. I also have some Caesar Gauls to paint, they look very promising.

Fantastic paint work!! Wondering about the bases sizes, are they 4cm*2cm and 4*3cm for cavalry?

Philotep07 Dec 2017 11:39 a.m. PST

Thank you. The bases are all 6 cm wide, 4 cm deep for cavalry and 2 cm or 3 cm for infantry (depending on the type).

Oh ok, thanks :)

A small update. The Heavy Cavalry unit is redone, have to finish the base.

A new post dedicated to this unit on the blog:
