I read Musket for a King, the book advertised on this site and I liked it very much. I am wandering if besides Cornwell novels, are there other novels about Napoleonic Period and possibly aimed at French Army and written in English. Marco |

"Seven men of Gascony" by RF Delderfield was always one of my favourites. the "Brigadier Gerard" books by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle are good too. You will find some here (not all French army tho!): link link "Death to the French" and "The Gun" are good.. How about the "Sharpe" novels? (I assume by your TMP handle you have read these…!) Dave |

Thank you very much Dave. Much appreciated. I will have a look at your suggested books. Yes! I must admit that Sharpe is one of my favourite reading. Actually not difficult to guess:-) I am just looking forward to a differet point of you in respect of the usual British Army. Ciao Marco |

Try the books by Armand Cabasson. 'The Officer's Prey', 'Wolf Hunt' and 'Memory of Flames'. They are translated from the French and are sort of 'whodunnits' but they are historically sharp and very entertaining. There is also a series in English by Richard Howard, 'Bonaparte's….'. It takes a group of dragoons from the late Revolution to Eylau. Light reading, but entertaining. |

Patrick Rambaud's trilogy beginning with The Battle: A Novel about the battle of Essling, link Adrian Goldsworthy's Peninsular War series beginning with True Soldier Gentlemen. Focus is on a British grenadier company. link |
