Hi

I recently ordered two 1/72 figures from North Star Models. My order came to a little less than £15.00 GBP once delivery charges were added. I consider this a lot for just two 20mm figures. But as they are Hitler and Stalin in resin, I figured I'd say damn the cost, and just get them.

I made my order online, and payment was taken on 10th October. It's now the 24th November, and I still haven't received the models. I now get regular marketing emails from North Star, most of which I have replied to (they say if you have any questions, simply reply to the email), explaining that my order remains unfulfilled.

So far I haven't received a single direct reply to my repeated requests for a clear statement on the status of my order. The nearest North Star have come is to simply email stating that the order was complete. I know that! What I want them to address is why I haven't received anything, or why after repeated requests for further information there's been no attempt to help me, or explain what's become of my order.

Does anyone on here have an alternate method of contacting the guy (Michael something or other, I think it is), so I can find out what's become of my order?

Has anyone else had a similar experience with North Star? This is my first order from them. A friend says he's bought their products (albeit via a different source), and not had any issues.

Thanks for any help

Sebastian

Thanks for the prompt response Andy.

Unfortunately that's a different company: the one I'm dealing with is 'North Star Models' (Latvia/Ukraine), not 'Northstar Figures' here in the UK.

Regards, Sebastian

Oh

I was going to say like Andy I have had brilliant service form North Star UK and normally small issues are resolved quickly.

I havnt heard of this other company

Would have been a good idea to make that clear up front. North Star UK are much better know on TMP than the Latvian outfit. Fortunately Bill has sorted it for you.

Sebastian Palmer24 Nov 2017 8:26 a.m. PST

Yes Fred, I see that intervention. My apologies to the UK firm. But I'm afraid I couldn't have made that clear 'up front', as I was unaware of the UK Northstar until Andy mentioned them

I've bought a product, and an expensive one at that, and it hasn't arrived. After weeks of waiting and sending emails to the seller, with no satisfactory response, I post in here about it (which is surely one of the purposes of this board?), to see if anyone else has experienced anything like this with North Star Models.

And if it's 'cause I didn't mention which North Star… How could I, when I hadn't even heard of the UK firm? And anyway, I DID clearly name the company accurately: North Star Models, as opposed to Northstar Figures.

I hope you get things resolved. You are definitely getting poor and rather insensitive help here.

Did you use Paypal?

Dashetal24 Nov 2017 10:40 a.m. PST

Paypal policy is thus:

"The default refund period is 180 days from the transaction date."

So its not too late to get your money back.

I see from your interests you are not a hobbyist who strays beyond your two periods and those favor the Russian conflicts. The TMP board is a marvelous resource. As a suggestion maybe you might stroll down the manufacturers listing and see what is offered by various companies. You may find you are overlooking many resources for your niches. But I warn you, they may impact your wallet tremendously

Sebastian Palmer24 Nov 2017 11:20 a.m. PST

Snafu:

Yes, it was a Paypal transaction. And thanks for the sympathy :-)

Dashetal:

Thanks for the info, that's reassuring. I've used Paypal numerous times. But luckily, so far, never had cause to ask for a refund (at least as far as I remember?). And yes, I'll explore the other ways of impoverishing myself… sounds like fun!

Fred Cartwright24 Nov 2017 11:28 a.m. PST

Sebastian always worth checking the TMP Manufacturers listings before posting consumer affairs topics, just to see if a similar named firm exists. Avoids any misunderstandings.

And since nobody here (so far) seems to have heard of these guys, their website:

northstarmodels.com

… I'm just hoping that:

1) My figures will arrive ASAP.
2) That North Star Models might be courteous enough to respond to my inquiries.
3) That I won't need to ask Paypal to refund my payment.

UPDATE:

I finally had a response from North Star Models, apologising and offering to resend the figures, along with another item, as a way of compensating.

That's very decent of them. I just hope the figures do finally arrive.

Fred Cartwright24 Nov 2017 2:55 p.m. PST

Hope it works out for you.

Thanks Fred

North Star Models tells me they believe the original order was lost in the mail, and that they have sent a replacement (plus a bonus for your inconvenience).

Sebastian Palmer25 Nov 2017 8:58 a.m. PST

Thanks Bill, that's gratifying. Much obliged. Regards, Sebastian

I recently had an order from them – very nice figures. Delivered without any issues in fact they even sent with tracking

10th Oct to 24th Nov is hardly any time at all. I don't understand all the panic, especially given the location. Customs is probably sitting on it.
