For the slaughter of nearly 4000 horses before they evacuated Helsingborg in 171 |

That's not, like, a year . A year has, like, four numbers. Everybody knows that . |
JimDuncanUK | 22 Nov 2017 12:51 p.m. PST |
@Beast How about 410 or 900. They are years. :) |

Gun freak, why invoke PETA unless you are just trolling. This has nothing to do with anything 18th century |

Gun freak, why invoke PETA unless you are just trolling. This has nothing to do with anything 18th century I think you are confusing humours title with trolling. |

How about 410 or 900.They are years. As if! I don't thing PETA cares about the well-being of mammals. They tend to concern themselves with hot-button issues like chocolate-covered ants. Like 99.9% of all insects don't already die gruesome "Walking Dead" deaths, anyway. Flying into a bug-zapper is their equivalent of dying peacefully in thier sleep at a ripe old age. |

After the Danes were defeated by the Swedes at the Battle of Helsingborg in 1710, they slaughtered all their horses before crossing the Sound back to Denmark. They also poisoned the town's wells with the carcasses in an effort to cause disease in the town. Since the Danish invasion of Scania was an effort to reclaim this former Danish province, this appears to be an odd way to treat the local population. |
Gunfreak | 22 Nov 2017 2:32 p.m. PST |
Well most of the "danes" they took with them. Leaving only the swedes to suffer the plague |

Yes. Probably a majority of the Danish army were linguistically German. |
Bobgnar | 22 Nov 2017 6:10 p.m. PST |
Considering the number of horses that died at the hands of all belligerents during the great war, the number of quoted is pretty small. |

Yes. Probably a majority of the Danish army were linguistically German. Actually no, while true for most Danish units most of the time, the Danish army that invaded Skåne, was uniquely Dano-Norwegian. The book does state the number, I don't have them in my head now, but well over 50% were Dano-Norwegian, with a decent chunk also being German-speaking Danish subjects. It was a very low quota of "mercenary" Germans in the regiments at Helsingborg. |

Hey Gunfreak, What book are you talking about? Just curious. |
Cacique Caribe | 23 Nov 2017 7:43 a.m. PST |
PETA is too busy with more urgent matters, like suing for a jungle monkey to have photo rights of his own selfies. link I wonder if this means that every bug that hits your motion sensor cameras will get their selfie rights too. Dan |
