First post to this site. I'm sorry if I'm a little new to wargamming as well.

I'm looking for a proxy model for a WH40k Basilisk. I want an M109A6 in the right scale for the game (I was a canoneer from 2003-2007,2x Iraq). Anyone know where i might find one? The 1/35 scale I've found looks awesome, but I'm afraid it will be WAY to big for the wh40k basilisk. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thank you in advance!

Well here is the thing.
I found kits in 1/100, 1/72 and 1/35. Only mention of one in 1/48 is the old Auroa kit.
Need to measure the Basilisk and a 1/35 to see size comparisons. Might be surprised.
And 1/56 vehicles won't scale right for GW figs.

I can 3d print one in whatever scale you wish. Leave some contact info if you are interested.

My suspicion is that an M109A6 will be too big. To find out for sure, head over to wikipedia and see what the actual size is and divide by 35.

In general 1/35 is too big. However you might find some smaller self propelled guns from WW2 in 1/35 that scale up well or more likely some others in 1/48 that do.

1/48 generally looks quite good with heroic 28/30mm figs though one thing to be aware of is that generally if they are the right length they will be narrower. Everything on the Leman Russ Chassis is pretty darn wide.

Best of luck!

Aurora models used to make a 1/48 model backin the day. It's an early version. They show up ocaisionally on Wbay.

Actually, a 1/35 M109 is the same size as a 40k Basilisk. Even down to the gun.

1/35 M41 (155mm) or M43 (208mm), open top would better sub for Basilisk size and appearance.

I can't answer your question, but welcome to TMP.

Hey everyone! Thank you for all of the responses. I joined, was able to post a subject, but then had to wait the 3 days to respond!

The reason I want an M109A6 is because because I was a gunner on one in Iraq. My Chief was killed in Iraq along with 6 others in my Unit. I thought it would be cool to make an artillery piece in their honor. Otherwise, I'd just get a Basilisk. Lol.

1/35 hull length is 194 mm. Which is about the size of a super heavy Baneblade. Way to big to represent a Basilisk. Basilisk hull is about 115 mm. Otherwise, IMO the the Tamiya looks amazing!

@bashytubits I'd be interested in a 3D version. I created a Craigslist ad so I'm not just blasting my personal email out there. Just reply to it and I'll get back with you. link
