Some of these are questionable, IMO, and the description of "Lion in Winter" has the wrong king referenced, but others I agree with: link |

"Saving Private Ryan has received critical acclaim for its protraction on history." Yes well, I… huh? |

The Empire Strikes Back got most of it right, but goofed when it portrayed Vader as having killed Admiral Ozzel just after having found out about his decision to come out of light space too close to the Hoth system (thus running the risk of bringing the capital ships too close to the ion cannon defense systems of the Rebellion before the Empire could close the noose). Although Vader believed his attempt to surprise the Rebels was a mistake (he is quoted as having said about Ozzel, "He is as clumsy as he is stupid"), Vader did not kill Ozzel until after he returned to his Star Destroyer, frustrated that most of the rebels and ALL of the major leaders made it off the planet and escaped. Ozzel is reported to have been passing by Vader in a corridor and asked him how it went. Also, the uniforms are mostly correct, but Ozzel was known to wear a hat with a stiffer peak, as opposed to the crush cap he was wearing when he died. Other than that, great details. |

"Holes" was remarkably close to the book, except that the kid wasn't fat in the film… |

Due to the amount of research that has come to light since the intial offering was first published,The Hobbit Trilogy was probably much closer to the real events than Tolkien's own groundbreaking work. |

Culturally illiterate as I am, I must confess to having seen only 3 of the films (SPR, TTT and Gettysburg) Although I must comment that, based upon all the things I've read about submarine tech during the 1930's and very early WWII, Das Boot probably got the stink wrong… |

Halfway through the list I was stymied by an Apple iPhone X giveaway that I couldn't get rid of. So I don't know if they were listed or not, but Clint Eastwood's Flags of our Fathers and the Japanese counterpart felt "realistic" to me. |

I saw most of these, I would add Andersonville to the list. I have read 2 different books from survivors and the movie followed both very well. Just finished Master and Commander by Patrick O'Brien, it's very good historical fiction by know information in later books ( have read a few now) he uses real events just fills in what we don't know. |
