A book that has been out for years but very interesting as an insight into a very different part of the 'Napoleonic' period.

Yes an old Warrior series Osprey that is hard to get.
Some glaring errors in it but I assume it had a lot to do with a limit on words rather than research. State regiments in Tenn. could be composed of both volunteers and militia. Tenn Rgts were more standardized in uniforms as well. Regulate Army officers had been assigned to many stockades to train local militia units. Not enough attention given to "half-breeds" in the militia and volunteer ranks in Ala and Miss.

It is a pretty good booklet as Ospreys go with the caveats that Rudy has mentioned.

I really liked the detail provided on weapons and equipments plus the excellent art work by Adam Hook. One certainly get a sense as to how the miltia was dressed in the context of the environment. However, I would have appreciated a depiction of Georgian Volunteer uniform and more Creek clothing deptictions. Still, it is a must have for a War of 1812 library.

I wonder if Osprey will produce one for the North Western Frontier.

They have shown no interest in extending the series for almost a decade. So we can assume that no other volumes on the topic will emerge.

I have found these Ospreys to be inaccurate and not too credible. They are far from the best of the Ospreys and I don't recommend them.
