Looks like a really clever plan. Looking forward to what happens!

Well thought out!

I like the idea. Short campaigns are nice because you can finish before the doldrums hit. Let us know how it works and any lessons learned.

I always liked the CAMPAIGNING WITHOUT MAPS By Steve Haller published in the Courier, JUNE-JULY1979. Yours sounds very interesting as well.

Here is a snip

"offers for the use of their co llections are often discouraged
by the time and clutter involved when maps are
used. An alternative method might employ the use of
a scenario based on a historical campaign (complete
with OB' s, etc) which allows the elements of choice
and chance to determine the nature of each battle of
the campaign. Each battle is assigned a number of
points that are awarded based on the results of the
battle (e .g ., comparison of casualty ratios). A small
group of gamers in the Dayton, Ohio, area recently
refought the Cowpens-Guilford Courthouse Campaign
of 1781 usin g such a method . Our specific experience
illustrates the method i"n detail. The campaign used no
maps and was subject to the following general conditions
(in addition to the scenario of potential battles):"

Thank you for the feedback! My Courier back issues are all from the 90's unfortunately.

I'd really like to do a Matrix Game campaign that generates tabletop battles, but I need to give it a think through.

Sounds interesting.

Regarding the Mouzon map, it has its problems (for example, the community of Dorchester, shown on the map as being one of the larger mid-country settlements, had been largely abandoned by 1751), but is certainly the best contemporary map for AWI. I use it all the time. But a heads-up is that the one on the David Rumsey Historical map Collection site (www.davidrumsey.com) is digitally scanned at a far higher resolution and is in general easier to view.
