Well what do you know, Bladerunner 2049's L.A. is lasercut MDF! Also at 1:48 scale just right for for playing 28mm as well!

They've been using 3d prototyping and lasercutting in their props and set-building for previous movies – and certainly did for their stompy battle robots game.

1/48 is a good scale for it, big enough to get certain sized details in, small enough that it's still practical to move pieces around.
