It's pretty wild, but it appears that the old PTRD-41 anti-tank rifle is in use in the Ukraine. It's pretty neat seeing these old weapons in service. link This video shows one in use around 10:38 in. YouTube link This site shows them in action. link
link Pretty cool to see these old weapons in action. |

I wouldn't mind seeing these in 15mm. I wonder if O8 would give them a shot to go with their current range of ultra moderns? |

As far as engaging light armor and positions in cover, use of a 14.5mm anti-materiel rifle makes a whole lot of sense. A BMP or BTR will not fare well against one of those, nor will a cinder block structure containing an enemy position. |

Yeah, AMRs have seen a lot of action in Syria too as makeshift sniper rifles (which, IIRC, is what the PTRD ended up being used as in WW2 as well). |

Probably not surprising I recall along time back a TV documentary on the arms trade (not the big corporations, but the smaller dealers) and there was this guy with basically a warehouse somewhere in the UK's Black Country full of pallets of WWII-era and early Cold War small arms. |

Will definitely ruin the day of any BMP, BTR, or Stryker! |

Would it not depend on the makeup of the round? A softer or brittle metal might fragment or splash against modern armour, surely, even if it is relatively lightly armoured. Mind you the size of the round and the velocity are both pretty potent. Certainly make a mess of a technical or other softskin though. |

Even the basic FMJ 'ball' rounds from WW2 pack twice as much kinetic energy as a .50BMG round. Strykers, BMPs, and BTRs are armored to take .50BMG fire, not something packing twice the ouch. |
