"Efforts to reach Simmons were unsuccessful. The Times quoted him as saying he planned to concentrate on "more important things in life."

"Dumb ol' game! I didn't even wanna play for forty years, anyway!"

This is what was interesting to me.

The wrongful act was:

A committee member for the association, Elie Dangoor, said Monday that three independent witnesses saw Simmons put a hand with freshly drawn letter tiles back into a bag to draw more tiles contrary to the rules.

The headline reads:

Scrabble star banned from the game for 'cheating'

Why does Fox News call it 'cheating' instead of just cheating? The quotation marks diminish the word -- like writing Fox 'News'.

The act alleged was just plain cheating.

Sounds like they should borrow an idea from poker and have "dealers" handing out the tiles.
