I have a few. He's most famous for Alice's Restaurant. YouTube link Then, there's City of New Orleans. I'm torn between his version and Steve Goodman, who wrote it. But hey. Why can't I like both? YouTube link A tad more obscure is his rendition of Shenandoah. YouTube link |

"City of New Orleans" was one of my favourite songs growing up, so I think I'd go with that one. |

City of New Orleans as I had traveled that IC route a few times before that song came out and it always resonated with me about that train ride and my youth. |

Let's get this right. Alice's Restaurant is Arlo Guthrie's debut album, featuring his hit song Alice's Restaurant Massacree. I also like The Motorcycle Song, on the flip side of the album, but I would also vote for the Alice's Restaurant Massacree-City of New Orleans tie. Rick |

It's the time of the year (Thanksgiving) for Alice's Restaurant Massacree to be heard a number of times on radio. And I'll love it every single time it's played. |

Listened to him perform Alice's Restaurant and City of New Orleans in a small bar many years ago. Gotta go with Alice's. It just fit the venue but on my record collection it is hard to ignore City. |

Alice's Restaurant. His description of the Whitehall Street Military Induction Center (NYC) is very funny. I know, I was there in '71. |

"City of New Orleans" by far. Alice's Restaurant Massacree is a good song, but unless you understand the context of the times it was written for, it doesn't translate well. 'City…" however, is timeless! |
