The Alani appear as enemies for both Western and Eastern Roman lists. We opted for Steppe terrain for this initial confrontation and will use arable when fighting the Eastern Roman forces later in the series. Of the many subtle changes between the old and new version relates to the loss of the general. This no longer means the end of the game as in the older version, but battle continues with troops requiring more ‘pips' to perform tactical movement. In some games this can be viewed as a minor blessing. link Cheers, Robert |
