For anyone out there who plays FVTW, over the last year, I have created an Excel based tool to automate all chart-based game functions. It started as a project for my own use, but eventually morphed into creating something for sharing with others. I have playtested it extensively and it will save you a LOT of time if you play these rules.

I am not a regular at posting on this site, so I am not sure how to post an attachment, or if that is even possible, but if anyone is interested, please drop me a line and I will send the file to you, as well as a set of release notes. If any of you are members of the FVTW Yahoo Group, I have uploaded the 2.8 MB file in the Files Section.

Any comments, suggestions, or notification of known bugs are welcome.

Thanks, SB

This sounds like a wonderful idea. I have long toyed with the idea of doing the same as an application built (for myself) in Delphi.

The attraction to me was also that I want to game in 1:20 and I thought it would be much easier to automate any modifications I needed to do rather than mentally do them.

BUT, I have gone to the Yahoo group and the folder says it is empty?

Thanks
Richard

Richard:
Another Delphi Developer & FVTW player. Who would have thought there was more then one! Haven't used Delphi since my last job about 4 months ago. Used it off and on since it came out in the 90's. Mainly ASP.Net MVC now.
Thought of writing a web service then the front end wouldn't matter. Just don't seem to ever find the time.

Yeah, not sure why…I have uploaded the file a few times into the Yahoo group page, but it doesn't appear….just e-mail me directly…see e-mail address above, and I will send you the file.

I love these rules, but I found doing the calculations manually to be a bit of a beast…..even doing some of them using automation is a bit of a beast to be honest…given the range of modifiers accounted for in some of the calcs…

But I can tell you with certainty from my own testing that not only does this save lots of time, it also ensures you don't forget to apply some modifiers, as running through the dialogue boxes forces you to check "yes" or "no" on modifiers.

I hope you find it useful…my fear with it a little bit is that there are some grey areas in the rules, and that my interpretation of some of those grey areas differs fro others.

Regards, Simon
