I am looking to start wargaming 10mm Peninsular British units (using Pendrakens ranges)and would like to hear your comments on which Battalions in your opinion are the best to represent on the wargames table. The Light Division, "The die hards" KGL etc and why you would recommend them. |

You'll be hard pressed to represent British line regiments for the Peninsular War at the moment using Pendraken figures. They have no castings for stove-pipe infantry and bicorne wearing officers. These have been queried already and the answer is some way off. |

95th Rifles were pretty crash hot, and the mainstay of the Light Division, although detachments of these invaluable riflemen were attached all over the shop. My personal favourites, although not in the Light Division, but in the 'Fighting Third' Division, were the 88th Foot the Connaught Rangers. Hard fighters whether in the line or out of it, these Irishmen never had a dull moment! |

Good thoughts but my favourite will be the 57th Foot (West Middlesex) – the source of the original "Die Hard!" |

Chasseurs Britanniques. If you get them to do something right you'll never forget it. |

I'd look at an historical OOB and consider which Division(s) you'd like to game with. If you really want the Guards and the 95th look at Barossa 1811. The Light Division is unsurprisingly a very different formation in that much of its strength are riflemen so it will give you a different sort of game to a division that has say 6/7/8 line regiments. Depending on what period you are modelling you may need to consider Portuguese regiments as well. However, Picton's Third didn't have Cacadores as part of its Portuguese brigade until later in the war – so you'd have a Division with lots of line troops and perhaps not enough light infantry. I like the Brunswick black uniform so I painted that unit and attach it to one of the historical formations I have. |

Dear Jim Duncan, New to hobby, but was thinking of using Pendraken codes NBR8 and NBR9 along with Rifles.Would these be ok? Thanks for any advice, direction. |
JimDuncanUK | 08 Nov 2017 12:52 p.m. PST |
@El Lobo For rank and file troops yes, these codes would be OK in 10mm. The officers really need to have bicornes. I would have a bash at modifying the officers with some milliput. Can't be too difficult in 10mm. The Rifles will be OK. I'll shop around the other 10mm manufacturers to see if they can help. I know that Pendraken have Peninsula figures on the back burner. |

@El Lobo Where in the UK are you? |
JimDuncanUK | 08 Nov 2017 1:15 p.m. PST |
@El Lobo Have a look at Magister Militum. link I have not seen these castings and do not know how well they scale against Pendraken. For £7.00 GBP they are worth a bash. |

@Jim Duncan. Later Peninsular War British infantry could be covered by the Waterloo Pendraken range in Belgic shako, although how far that was actually adopted in the Peninsula is a moot point. The cavalry are a problem as well. The MM figures are significantly larger than Pendraken figures and would not look right in the same units. Old Glory do the " Stovepipe" infantry, but they are in strips of 5. They also do a full range of the earlier style cavalry, which look good from the images I have seen. I imagine they will be a better size match for Pendraken than the MM figures, although I have not seen them in the flesh. The other possibility is the range from Bend Sinister, although ordering from Si can be an exercise in patience. The Bend Sinister infantry figures are a bit thinner than Pendraken, but they are nicely proportioned and the samples I have had paint up nicely. Bend Sinister British cavalry are in the later (Waterloo style) uniform. I do wish Pendraken would move the early Peninsular figures up the queue! |

We've got to finish the ranges we've already started, otherwise we'll have a riot on our hands! Next up are the Brunswickers, which should be ready for release in the next week, then we've got some KGL, D-B's and Hanoverians coming shortly afterwards. |

Look forward to your new figure releases Leon,I'm a big fan of your figures.Hopefully the Spanish 1809 period will soon follow.Just a few ideas/wish list for your cosideration.1. Napoleonic British Marines/sailor landing parties.2. Generic Napoleonic pontoon workers.3.Napoleonic French ambulance and figures.4. Napoleonic "dead" figures.5.Napoleonic generic supply wagon.6.Napoleonic caissons for the major powers ie Austrian,Prussian,French.7 Modern Police figures and SWAT teams. As you can tell I sway alittle towards Napoleonics.Keep up the good work. |

@El Lobo I understand that Pendraken take note of requests for various figures via their forum. link |

@ Jim Duncan. Thanks for your help and advice |

Jim's right, if you pop over to our Forum you can make your requests and we'll add them to our lists here. The more votes for something, the more likely it is to get made! |
