I have very much Good, bad and the ugly experiences.Whilst products are good, the order turnaround is very slow, and lots of flash on some castings. Have others had similar thoughts, had good show experiences? Redoubt do not sell individual figures or horses etc whereas Dixon for example do.

Most of my ACW collection is Redoubt with some Steve Barber:

If I were to start over again, I would use both. On the Redoubt figures there was some flash, but not lots (not like Perry metals for example). And some of their separate heads were badly cast.

Trevor and his wife do a great job. Redoubt do make some things which no one else does and I've always been happy with them although relative size prevents me from mixing them with other manufacturers' stuff. My ECW collection is based around a solid core of Redoubt and their ECW and FIW civilians appear in any number of my horse and musket games however anachronistic their fashions may be. I have never found them to have more flash than other manufacturers and a good deal less than some. Heartily recommended although, as stated, you might want to allow a bit more lead time.

I have a huge collection of 28mm ACW. Made up mostly of the. Older Old Glory with separate heads, Perry, and Redoubt. In my opinion; my Redoubt are my favorite ones. And I do not consider the ones I have got in the past to have an over amount of flash.

I've a modest ACW collection and they are Dixon miniatures! I've being collecting for more years that I can remember. Normal turnaround for a order is two weeks, I always pay by cheque which slows down the process and I send my order by post. The packing is spot on and damages are very very rare. Trev is a gentleman to deal with! What more is there to say. The castings are always good and being able to pick individual figures is always a plus! The variety of heads is also a plus.

bracken, I believe Redoubt (Eastbourne) and Dixon (Holmfirth) are different companies. Both are very good. I particularly like Dixon's 15mm Marlburians.

Thanks all – seems that I may have just been unlucky with recent orders: receiving a three-legged horse, missing posts for rail fencing, and receiving a flag for 5th New York instead!

My experience with Redoubt is that they are slow, slow slow. They won't follow shipping requests to the USA even though they have charged you extra. And their figures have plenty of flash in addition to being about the "beefiest" ACW figures around.Redoubt used to make up most of my ACW figures, they no longer do.

Although I remain a massive Redoubt fan, I agree that they are often larger figures than other makers, so not always easy to mix with the smallest, skinnier troops of other manufacturers. Extensive range. I would strongly recommend Barber or Redoubt head swaps for Dixon figures and adding extra variety to massed rows of cheaper plastics.
