It is with profound regret that I announce the passing today of my last bottle of Armoury "Iron" paint. Born sometime in the early 1980s, I think, this bottle is famous for having been in active service for at least 35 years; quite possibly longer. It has survived three different painting tables, at least three major house moves, and lent its striking pigment to hundreds if not thousands of toy soldiers and equipments. But it has finally expired. Its loss will be keenly felt, as it was a preferred shade for many purposes, having a unique tone and texture compared to any others in my vast (overly) collection of paints. It was survived by three similar spare bottles but all, alas, were found to have dried up while in storage.
There will be a burial with full honors rendered at a time late this week. Hats off for a moment of silence, gentlemen, if you please. |

"sound of the Last Post" being played by a bugler – a salute to the fallen. |

Not many Armoury paints held up that well, but there must have been some flukey chemical mix or magic that kept this bottle alive when others perished. I still have a few other colors surviving, but none with such a lengthy tenure. Armoury were the first acrylic paints I migrated to when I discovered a world beyond Testors cheap enamel glosses. And for decades, their flesh tones were my go-to starters for all my human minis. I miss 'em!! |

I had a bottle of Armoury paint that I hoarded for years and years. It was some sort of reddish metallic I think, just the thing to do a wash on an energy sword, etc. |

Yeah, I still have 16 sitting nearby me that are ok. That Chestnut color is great! |

I still have life in the horse colors and the silks. But I'm afraid it won't be for too much longer. |
