I've found a source for paper steel in the US. The company is called Kling Magnets, Inc. They're located in New York and their website is <www.kling.com>.

The paper steel is a specialty custom made product (Mactac liner on back) and is not available on the website. You can contact them at info@kling.com.

A 13" x 13" sheet of paper steel costs $6.75 USD, plus postage.

It's glossy white on the top and has an adhesive backing.

I put a sheet of it in one of my plastic troop carrying cases and then put a couple of stands of troops (with magnetic bases) on it. I tilted the case 90° and the bases stayed in place.

For those in the UK, you might want to contact Bisbell bisbellmagnets.com. They have an adhesive back Ferro White Gloss. I haven't seen it but it might be worth checking out.

Thanks for the info Bob! This would be very useful for my SYW collection

I believe they can cut to other sizes but you would have to contact them and get a price quote.

I was able to cut down my 13" x 13" sheet so that it would fit into my plastic troop case. A sharp pair of scissors did the trick.

Is it different from FlexSteel that Litko sells?

I've never used Litko's flex steel so I really can't comment.

Is this stuff actually paper ? I ask because all the other references are to vinyl sheet products (impregnated with soft iron).

The plain type is better for lining boxes as the base makes better contact with the magnetically receptive iron embedded in the sheet.

I sell a similar product (called Ferrosheet) in the UK.

McMaster-Carr sells magnetic sheet with various holding power ratings, and I believe that it is not overly expensive.

Thanks for the first item in the thread, I hadn't seen them. I've gotten most of my stuff from McMaster Carr. They also make very thin steel, with sticky back that I used to line in boxes. Just cut it into strips not a whole pieces big as the box and put my magnetic based figures on it.
