The Battle of Pardubitz was fought today Sept.8 1756 near the Czech town Pardubitz just south of Koniggratz.
The Prussian Army was led by General Bevern assisted by von Winterfeldt, Manteuffel, and Field Marshal Schwerin. The Austrians were led by Feldmarshall Count Daun. The Austrians had almost 28,960 (2,896 figures) men to the Prussians' 20,700 (2,070 figures). All figures are 6mm Adler Miniatures 7YW.

Nice AAR! Love the "gleam of bayonets"

Someone's got some 'splaining to do about the sudden need for promotions!

Wow, all those figs and you guys even have painted limbers too! Gluttons for punishment.

Very impressive job!

Lovely work. I especially like the 5 flags per Prussian battalion (I assume it is 5 I can see?).

My only question: Would the Prussians rather have tried some flanking move (through a forest for example) rather than the suicide mission of attacking redoubts frontally?

Thanks guys for all the kind comments!

To "de Ligne",
Yes! It is 5 flags (1 for each company) that is 495 flags for the Prussians….flags by "Tiny Tin". That took some time to do!

In the previous 2 battles the Prussians had tried flanking moves only to have the Austrians retire before the flank attacks could "row up" their line. Also, the Austrian flanks were very secure…a large town with 240 Grenz (2400)in it and heavy woods with 200 (2000)Grenz on left flank and a impassable river (no nearby bridges)on the far right Austrian flank. Also, by attacking the redoubts it made cavalry almost useless….and Prussians were weak in cavalry. If you have read the earlier AAR about the battle of Plotistie you would know that Bevern had sent most of his cavalry to join Keith in that fight.
But I do commend you on your very astute observations. I just hope "Frederick" is not too distraught about the loss of 3 generals!
Thanks again and Cheers from Texas

I tried once to put 5 flags into a Prussian battalion in 15mm

but I found the numbers required in a battalion to be rather challenging. I think it works very well in 6mm.
Great job.

WOW de Ligne! That looks fantastic!

You are right about the size of a battalion….most of mine are about 75 figures. The French battalions are smaller… 60 figures. But then French only have 2 flags per battalion.
Where it really makes a difference is in the cavalry. My cavalry regts. are usually between 2 to 10 squadrons strong… depending on historical T.O.s. So Prussian hussar regt. is 100-120 figures strong at "full" strength. We mostly play campaign games. So it is important to have units "last" longer than a couple of encounters.
Cheers From Texas!
