And those of you who may admire the models, but who don't have a Red Army to buy trucks for, consider this -- the GAZ-AA (the 2 x 4 configuration) was a license-built Ford Model AA truck (the truck version of the famous Model A sedan of the late 1920s).

The Ford AA truck was one of the most widely produced and used trucks in the world at that time. In civilian use it was present everywhere, from the Philippines to Western Europe to sub-Saharan Africa. Several militaries acquired them in the 1930s, and of course any enemy trucks acquired in running condition were prized by many armies as well. On the Eastern Front the Romanian Melaxa firm had license to build the engines, and was able to provide spare parts to keep captured GAZ-AAs running.

So yeah, if you want a bit of that "Gypsy caravan" appearance to the motorpool for your troops, there's hardly a better choice to start with than adding a few -AAs.
