A pretty popular theme with Renaissance artists, and many variations.

They look to be very well painted flats – I suppose I could use google translate but – meh.

Yeah, it's amazing what some of the flats painters can do. I bought a few flats from Colonel Sloane back in the 70's, but after seeing some examples at MFCA shows done solely with painstaking glazing techniques, I was far too intimidated to try painting any. Someday. . .
