A little, but it is a complex subject which deserves a book on its own. Mollinary |

Funnily enough, Rammers old chap, it is a thought that had crossed my mind. I have pretty well all the info necessary to do it, but I hardly think it would make my first million! Mollers |

No but its not all about money, the thought of having your book on someone's shelf in fifty or a hundred years time and being regarded as the definitive english language source must count for something, yes/no ? |

I believe that he, Michael Solka, describes the flags in his book. |

Books or plates on late 1800s Prussian Flags do exist. I have a copy of 'Ruhmreiche Fahnen deutscher Geschichte' that has plates of many Prussian and other German State flags. An example:
Also Reinhold Redlin in about 1975 published a series of about 700 plates depicting the Prussian flags used between 1816 and 1918 under the title 'Pro Gloria et Patria'. |

Hi Camcleod, I have a copy of the same album, and it is very good as far as it goes. I am not sure how widely available it is at present, however. jaxenro, the problem with 1890 is that William the Second introduced a completely new set of colours in 1890, which largely bore little relation to previous patterns. An excellent start, if you can find a copy, is Fiebig's Unsterbliche Treue, published in the 1930s as an attempt to bolster interest in the military history of the German states. What it lacks, sadly, is anything on those states absorbed into Prussia in 1866. |
