Once again we went along to the SELWG show in London 22nd Oct. As usual the SELWG folk are very well organised. They are one on the top shows for organisation. They make sure the stands are all set up. They ensure that bad traders don't move the tables about or box them in. They ensure loading is done in an orderly manner. Even the car parking was supervised. So hats off to SELWG for being probably the most organised show I have attended. the other shows are good too of course but SELWG seems the gold standard.

Now to the games. A nice selection of games carrying from tanks versus everyone to historical refights of Italian renaissance. plenty of space around the game tables with plenty of chairs too. Excellent. the lighting is very good and aids the games. i saw games in 25mm, 20mm,15mm and 10mm. there were probably other sizes but those are the ones I saw. Some games used sceery tiles but the majority were split between pre-printed mats and custom.sprinkled mats. that would not be true ten years ago.
Trading was a bit lower than before, but then that is mainly to do with th internet being the main sales point of most companies?
Prizes were given for games but i do not remember the details of them (sorry).
The Bring and buy was well spread out and easy to access. A variety of goods on sale. A fair few boxes of scenery such as 10mm houses. Also good to see small lots such as 6 chariots for £18.00 GBP so a small spend was possible.

Overall a very good show. Although subjective I wold opine that it is a "top show".

Thanks to the SELWG crew for their hard work!

SELWG is one of the few shows I'm able to attend so I wish it every success, but I do wish the bring-and-buy was arranged differently.

In keeping with many other shows it's held on a long table with ranks of people crowded against it. You have to edge your way in to see a section of the table, then withdraw and edge in somewhere further down the line. It's frustrating and highly inefficient.

Even more annoying to sellers and buyers alike is that all lots over £100.00 GBP were relocated to a rear table where they couldn't be seen! The 'staff' were very helpful in answering questions about what might be on that rear table but there was no chance to browse or buy whole armies on spec. Buying on spec is the whole point of B&B.

Would all show organisers please take a leaf from the Reading show where the B&B is on a circle of tables which people naturally tend to walk round. It is also very well arranged by subject. I've bought and sold more at Reading than anywhere else and the experience was a pleasure (apart from the queue to sign stuff in).

I was there yesterday with Ham and Jam and had a great day. I'd echo Martin's comments about it being a very well organised show with good facilities. Wish it was easier to get to and back though (London traffic)
Cheers to the SELWG chaps for doing a great job.

Thanks Did a bit of a TANGO there!

Except you wrote more words in one post than Tango manages in one hundred posts. :-)

I was looking forward to going but southern trains closing crystal palace train station on the day was just more than bad timing …
