OK, which of the many shambling, decaying, animated corpse movies is your favorite? My nomination is:

Shaun of the Dead

mildbill22 Oct 2017 4:24 a.m. PST

28 days later or shawn of the Dead. Tied.

Private Matter22 Oct 2017 4:50 a.m. PST

I'll add Zombieland to the list.

While not a fan of the genre I do like "Shaun…" and "Zombieland" for the different cultural views.

USAFpilot22 Oct 2017 2:49 p.m. PST

Night of the Living Dead. It scared the crap out of me as a little kid.

Hafen von Schlockenberg22 Oct 2017 2:56 p.m. PST

Heh. Did the same to me,at age 21. Still the most effective "modern" type zombie movie.

For the traditional voodoo type, "I Walked With a Zombie" (1943).

Night of the Living Dead (original; still the scariest movie ever made!)
Dawn of the Dead (original)
Dawn of the Dead (remake — they're both very good!)
Undead (2003)

For side reading, here is Roger Ebert's 1968 review of Night of the Living Dead, (or rather his audience review):

miniMo--thanks for the link--interesting reading, especially for the lack of an "out" for the kids. OT,but reminds me of an interview with William Cameron Menzies about this film:

picture

When asked about the visible zippers on the backs of the minion suits,he said he did it deliberately, to give scared kids an "it's only a movie" escape hatch. Considering the whole film was targeted directly at a child's deepest fears,a wise move.

Cyrus the Great23 Oct 2017 1:46 p.m. PST

The original "Night of the Living Dead".

willthepiper23 Oct 2017 3:06 p.m. PST

The first zombie movie I saw in a movie theatre (first run) was "Return of the Living Dead".

Great quotes:
"send more paramedics"
"send more cops"

Plus, Linnea Quigley – ahem.

Pretty hard to make one better than Romero's original trilogy.

My fave has to be the long (director's?) cut of Dawn of the Dead.
