If you are an HMGS Midwest member then you have read the latest update from the President. He tells us that Little Wars only pays for itself if the membership fees are directed to the convention. They want to do other things, like run a conference at the President's place of work, and to put on HMGS Games at other venues. The next paragraph says that the other venue games are rune at no cost to the organization. Confused yet. By straw poll – who wants this done? If not we need to change the leadership. The politics of last year continue to simmer. Too Bad. |

The question I would have is "What would the conference be about", and if so, "how much would it cost?" As for "other venues", does he mean other conventions as HMGS Midwest sponsored games? If so, what is stopping them from doing that now? Or is it a "We want to run games at this Convention and want the HMGS piggy bank to pick up our tab?" I'm not sure about your statement of "The politics of last year continue to simmer." Perhaps you could clarify? Murphy (HMGS-Midwest Member) in case someone decides to ask. |

You need to clarify your points in the OP. (And I am a HMGS-Midwest member.) |

I would need more details on the "HMGS games at other venues", especially why it would cost money. Conference, I'm less interested in. As for the "politics" I haven't followed any of that (and don't know the problem). (HMGS-MW member) |

The "other venue" games are at NO COST to HMGS becasue they are being put on at other events where HMGS does not have to pay for the hall. So re-enactments, history days, other game events like Adepticon, Garycon and so on. I am not a member because as far as I can tell Little Wars is the only thing the local chapter does. The GL chpater ran two cons, several game days, published a newsletter and participated in a lot of other events to generat einterest in the hobby. |

I am a member of several organizations: Ducks Unlimited, NRA, Pheasants Forever, VFW, American Legion and yes, HMGS Midwest come to mind. I receive little if any benefit from my membership in these organizations, at least with HMGS Midwest I attend Little Wars. I often am in disagreement with actions or stances of many of these organizations, the NRA comes to mind. That does not mean that I do not support the goals and visions of these organizations and will not continue in my support. I would hope that you would take the time to review the situation, visit the Midwest website, read the newsletters before accepting as "the truth" a post on this or any other forum. |

I agree that members should read the newsletter as well as the latest missive from the board. And Extra that is what I understood – so why the need for more money? For most (practically all) members hmgs midwest and Little Wars are synonymous. |

From what I have seen as a result of the newsletter and what they show, it seems that the cost of the new venue is much much more than the old site. |

That is what I read as well Murphy. Raising the cost $5 USD or so would seem a reasonable solution. In my opinion it would still be a reasonable price. |
