not sure there is one. Isn't it mostly about choosing the right fabric, shaving fields and painting them?

Should be about it unless I am mistaking.

In the BattleGroup:Kursk book the made some terrain with towels by gluing it to foam board. Not sure if it is on line though.

I would cut pieces of toweling to desired shape, soak them in a mixture of watered down PVA then lay it out on whatever board you are using as desired. Let dry then spreay it black then paint. I use strips of terrycloth for thatched roofs all the time.

I think the technique was mentioned as an option in an old version of the games workshop terrain book, but it didn't include step-by-step instructions. Unfortunately, my copy of the book is still hidden away in a storage following a move.

I would love this as well

I just bought a cheap brown coloured towel from Wilkinson's and cut it up into field sized pieces. Doesn't need any backing. Got a lot of fields out of one towel.

I believe that this started with the Perry brothers. I seem to recall an article, either by them or about them, featuring white toweling being died green to be used as terrain.

Maybe a WI article?
