Last Friday we played a WWI in East Africa game. We used the simple off table movement system I posted on the campaign board some months ago to determine arrival times and it worked well. A full report can be found here link |

Wonderfully evocative and well grounded in the history. The unique conditions in WW 1 EA make for a very different kind of game. Essentially, it is the vast dense bush terrain which affects everything. Ambushes are deadly and machine guns not so good at close range. |

Great looking game. Until you actually wrote the Koenigsberg,I kept thinking that there was a little fiction there, and the name of the gunboat sunk on Lake Victoria was the Louisa! Haha:) |

Very nice! I always like the fringes of WW1 -- Mesopotamia, the Hejaz, Palestine, Egypt (Senussi rebellion) and East Africa. I'm preparing forces for this period. HaT Industrie has released a good line (in 1/72, my preferred scale) that covers most of the required figures. I plan to use *Men Under Fire* rules to run games at an HMGS-East convention in the (I hope) not-too-distant future. You have definitely given me some ideas about a mini-campaign setup that will I hope bring about some surprises for all players. Thanks for a great report and excellent photos. Having been running most games in desert or Mediterranean terrain for the past 50 years, I will definitely need to create a lot of jungle! |
