OK, fair enough. You make a good comment re what a broker may do. If GW failed to make profit they may loose share holders.
From an Economic standpoint, i.e. the bottom line … again it is all about the $$$$. Whether a company produces toys, cars, PCs, burgers or gold plated widgets, etc., … |
The H Man | 20 Oct 2017 4:44 p.m. PST |
Mostly. Does not seem to bother Dick Smith. He sold off his chain as it was getting too big. Look what happened to them. I wouldn't think his foods a huge earner, they apparently lost some money sticking with aussie farmers (peanut farmers i remember, but I would guess others too). Not all companies are just out for profit. |
Legion 4 | 21 Oct 2017 10:12 a.m. PST |
But yes … most are … so … |
The H Man | 21 Oct 2017 4:51 p.m. PST |
Glad to see we can agree on something. I was pointing out that it would not be so strange for a company, like GW, to not be so profit focused. This would be the case if they were to abandon production of the old marines. I feel the old marines are popular and GW would be giving up some profitabulity. (See how I managed to tie this back to the topic, I was worried for a moment) |
malleman | 21 Oct 2017 8:51 p.m. PST |
The 3rd party is called Forgeworld. GW has a lot invested in the line other than just the space marines. They may eventually fade them out, but I don't think that it will be any time soon |
The H Man | 21 Oct 2017 11:00 p.m. PST |
Well said. Time will tell. Though forge world is GW, don't forget. (Let's not start up that conspiracy theory!) |

Good Lord, I've not had a chance to check back on this thread but I've not seen such arrogance in a long time. H Man has insulted the intelligence of everybody who has disagreed with him. He started a thread called "GW giving away space marines" in which he has denied making any comment and called people slow and uneducated whilst making himself look like a total nugget! Well done. I've not seen anyone go to such lengths to make themselves look ridiculous since my teenage daughter argued that the best way to make black coffee was to put the milk in first. |
The H Man | 22 Oct 2017 5:15 a.m. PST |
Glad to have you back. At least I'm not the only one your bitter at, poor girl. I only denied suggesting GW may give away ip, as I was talking symbolically, and that they should not make a prifit, also false. Make sure you read the posts before having a go at someone, as you can miss relevant details (Don't worry, it happens to the best of us). |

Glad to see we can agree on something. Well IMO, everybody should do what works from them … So yeah … insulted the intelligence of everybody who has disagreed with him. He started a thread called "GW giving away space marines" in which he has denied making any comment and called people slow and uneducated whilst making himself look like a total nugget! That happens to me all the time here … not mentioning any names … There is an old saying, "Sometimes it's smart to play stupid" … So some get "type casted" … |
The H Man | 22 Oct 2017 2:14 p.m. PST |
Its type cast. No idea what your on about (My code book must be out of date), please be clear in what you say so everyone can understand, better yet… Looking at the TOPIC. How is it that Mantic got away with using the "the game of fantasy battles" slogan? If everything GW touches turns to ip, surly they would have had that trade marked all this time? I can only assume it was to generic to be trade marked or they had a trade mark with warhammer attached. (This is me giving into the legal angle again) Maybe GW just did not care by that point. Perhaps they still owed Ronnie some back pay? |
malleman | 22 Oct 2017 6:20 p.m. PST |
Wow assuming I forgot that Forge World is part of G W. The reason I made my post was to remind you that the 3rd party you were talking about already exist. Not sure why you post all of this nonsense with out thinking it through first. Damn it, I assumed that you were making a meaningful post and not being silly by posting just to post. You got me again, Yea you! |
The H Man | 22 Oct 2017 7:02 p.m. PST |
You just contradicted your self. Forge world is GW, therefore they are not a third party. I was not having a go at you by pointing that out, now or then. Its hard not to mention you not thinking your last post through, but only as you said it of me. I hope we are now square and can move on. I do appreciate your comments. |
malleman | 22 Oct 2017 9:16 p.m. PST |
Not sure how I contradict myself. It may be hard for you to understand, but when I stated that there was already a 3rd Party called Forge World, I was stating to you that what you are saying doesn't make sense (in a less direct more gentle way). The reason being ( and I will type slow for you) is that Forge World produces ancillary/supplemental products for the G W universe of products as is. And yes you are that simple and you were trying "have a go " when I was being respectful You really should think before you type. Here I will give you some more rope now to make yourself less relevant :) |
The H Man | 22 Oct 2017 9:52 p.m. PST |
Groan. You are very mean. Firstly, again, you contradicted your self by suggesting you knew forge world is part of GW, then still sugesting it is a 3rd party, ie not part of GW. I was not having a go. Please stop trying to provoke me. I appear to be very relevant to you, or you would not continue post here with such nonsense. |
The H Man | 22 Oct 2017 11:38 p.m. PST |
Talking of 3rd parties. Not sure if this fits in, but a good story. In 1973 Atari made a bogus competitor Kee games. They gave one of their chaps some money and he started another company. Only no one was to know about it. They did this so both comps could market games almost the same to different distributors. Obviously Forge World is not a secret GW set up, but talking about it made me remember the story. By the way in researching the story, as I could not remember details. I found out Atari is about to launch a new console. I expect the good old graphics so I know I will be disappointed. Game idea! The search for ET. |

Its type cast. I.e. Sometimes people on TMP [and elsewhere] get "type cast" … Sometimes people read into someone's posts based on their past posts. E.g. I'm not a real big fan of GW … so regardless of what I post, etc., … |
The H Man | 23 Oct 2017 3:02 p.m. PST |
I was just correcting your spelling. (The blind leading the blind) Fair enough. That makes sense. Some people do seem to have rose tinted glasses on for GW. Many people go to maccas. Many people complain about maccas. Not many defend it like their life depended on it. Every company has its issues. Though one man's trash is another man's treasure. (Except in maccas case, no one really likes it) |
Legion 4 | 24 Oct 2017 7:49 a.m. PST |
I blame Auto-correct for my spelling … frequently … |
The H Man | 24 Oct 2017 6:20 p.m. PST |
Or lack there of. I hear you. |

I meant auto correct has a lack of auto correct. Machines spell worse than humans. |
