I find there's nothing like a good movie to get me excited about a period or to have playing in the background while I paint figures. Are there ANY films about the War of 1812 aside from The Buccaneer?

Not that I can think of but it is hard to believe there is not one about the other bright spot, the US Navy.

Naval (I guess):

Captain Caution,1940

Mutiny! 1952

Two movies about Tecumseh:

Brave Warrior,1952--he fights for the Americans.

Tecumseh,1972--right side,this time,but filmed in East Germany.

The Kentuckian is about that time period in Alabama. Starred John Wayne.
Fight between French Napoleonic veterans who came to New Orleans then moved to Marengo county in Alabama.

RudyNelson, yours was the only film I was able to find in my library system. the film is actually titled The Fighting Kentuckian. The Kentuckian stars Burt Lancaster and is set in 1820. Hafen von Schlockberg, thanks for the titles. I'll have to expand the size of my net.

Rudysnelson04 Oct 2017 4:29 p.m. PST

Yep Lancaster and not Wayne.

Can't comment on the historical accuracy. I saw this as a child.

A Google search shows this film about the War of 1812 is currently being made.

That officer looks like a reenactor.

There was also a B-movie about Jean Lafitte from 1950 called "Last of the Buccaneers," starring Paul Henreid. And I suppose one might consider Walt Disney's "Davy Crockett" for including the Creek Indian War.

It is also worth mentioning the 1926 silent movie "Old Ironsides," although it is about the Barbary War.
