He had so many great songs. If I had to pick one, the one I probably enjoy the most is You Don't Know How It Feels, bit that's a tough call to make.

RIP Mr. Petty.

Too many to choose from. This year sucks… in so many ways. Damn it… RIP, Mr. Petty. You will be missed.

RIP Tom Petty and thank you for sharing your talent to all us fans.

McKinstry Fezian03 Oct 2017 10:36 a.m. PST

As with others, too many to choose from a great artist. His work with the Traveling Wilburys was quite good as well.

Orbison, Harrison and now Petty gone.

KSmyth03 Oct 2017 10:52 a.m. PST

There are many, many, but my top three would be:

The Waiting--best guitar solo ever

You Wreck Me

The Insider--with Stevie Nicks on Hard Promises. Better song than "Stop Dragging my Heart Around."

"Don't Treat Me Like That" and "Don't Come Around Here No More" Tom Petty had a distinctive style and voice. I am so glad he got into the R&RHOF before this. So sad, RIP.

Can't leave off "Honey Bee", with Dave Grohl on drums. It's a good jam.

Nice article on Petty's strangest single. link

And his most glorious video, the Indian circus of "Walls": YouTube link

Don't Come Around Here No More.

Petty as the Mad Hatter was iconic.

2017 might well be called "The year the music died."

Last Dance with Mary Jane

"Mary Jane's Last Dance" … "Free Falling" … "Waiting Is the Hardest Part" … and many more. I loved the Travelling Willburys material, especially "I Won't Back Down"

I meant to write 'Learning to Fly'. That song was out when I was in pilot training.

Like others here the answer is "so many" but in particular:

American Girl
Louisiana Rain
Room at the Top
Kings Road
The Last DJ
Money became King
Can't stop the sun
You got lucky
A wasted life
First Flash of Freedom
Don't come around here no more
Southern Accent
The best of everything
Fooled Again (I don't like it)
Too much ain't enough

Petty as the Mad Hatter was iconic.

And "borrowing" from Logans Run for You Got Lucky : I'm not a great one for videos over songs – but that one felt right.

I like quite a few but if I had to give one it would be American Girl.

I am still trying to get used to a musical world devoid of Tom Petty. I listened to his Sattlelite Radio channel with regularity and had all his early work on vinyl and casette when in college. Damn the Torpedos was almost as a soundtrack of my twenties. A girl I was dating once broke up with me due to the fact that I was constantly playing, whistling or singing along to "You Got Lucky". I guess she didn't like the lyrics as much as I. : )

I saw Tom Petty in concert many times and he was one of the best when it came to live performances. I will miss his broadcast, which was always full of snarky humor. He was one of a kind.
