"Nice, shame they are resin though as l hate snapped of rifle barrels" – the resin is both robust and flexible. I've dropped a couple of figures already (clumsy old !), picked them up and been pleasantly surprised to discover the barrel ends hadn't broken off! |

I agree with Striker, these look really nice. I have no issue with resin, in my experience it suffers no more from handling than any other material. |

But how they fit heft and height wise existing modern ranges such as Empress and Spectre Miniatures? |

"But how they fit heft and height wise existing modern ranges such as Empress and Spectre Miniatures?" a bit taller and bulkier. When I have time I'll take a couple of comparison pics. |

Those look wonderful. You've absolutely nailed the MTP! It's not an easy pattern to paint but it looks spot on. Could you share which colours you've used? My only quibble is about the figures themselves, they are all wearing Mk 6 helmets. They should have Mk 7s or Virtus to be really up to date. There are still a few Mk 6s kicking about but only in Reserve units. |

…perhaps my claim they are 'present day' is inadvertently misleading – I think they are meant to represent troopers in Afghanistan over the last few years. I'm a sci-fi man so a little out of my depth with historical, sorry. I'll check with the man. Colours to follow… |

For Afghanistan they're pretty accurate. I deployed on Herrick 12 (summer 2010) in desert DPM and with a Mk 6A helmet. I got issued MTP uniform a couple of months into the tour but my osprey was still desert DPM, as was my helmet cover. By the time I went back the following year on Herrick 14 everyone was in full MTP with Mk 7 lids. They also need daysacks. Everyone, and I mean everyone, carries a daysack on patrol. Exceptions being vehicle mounted patrols and the RAF Regt (who never left Bastion anyway so they don't count!) |

Windy, so my mate Ted was blown up on camp was he? link And plenty more as well. Let's stick to talking about toy soldiers on here and keep silly unfounded opinions to arrse and FYB. Nice figures by the way, they do seem a bit of a mix of kit i.e. Virtus kneepads with Mk6 helmets and as Windy said everyone wore a daysack all the time (even the RAF Regt) |

Apologies mate, that was crass of me. Bad times. I think there was actually a guy killed on that same tour by an IED on the ranges at Bastion during RSOI. Back to the figures though, absolutely cracking paint job but their kit is a bit of a mishmash. I've done some of the Empress ones which are better proportioned and more accurate kit-wise but they're lacking daysacks too. |
foxweasel | 03 Oct 2017 2:40 p.m. PST |
No worries mate. I remember the IED on the RSOI range as well, the point had been cleared but how can a Vallon be effective with so many empty cases around. I agree about the figures, they are good but there's a touch of Sci Fi about them. It's like they've been well researched and then the photos from different years mixed together. Mk6 helmet but no strap for the night vision mount, Mk4 Osprey with virtus bits, 159 ground/air radio, boots!! I sound like I don't like them, I think they're good and these things will only be picked up by kit geeks like myself. |
