During the mid 70s, I remember seeing a movie on US TV about a family that went through a black hole.

I don't remember what the main storyline was, but at least part of it was the spaceship the family was on getting caught in the gravitational pull of the black hole. I think the family was the only people on the ship, so kind of Lost in Space-ish.

At the end of the movie, the family finally realises they can't escape the black hole, resign themselves to their fate, and start having a discussion about what will happen to them. They decide to believe they will travel into another dimension instead of just dying.

The final scenes showed their spaceship and them being stretched out as they pass the event horizon, as they travel through a 2001 Space Odyssey-like psychedelic tunnel.

I was so intrigued by the concept that my pre-teen self called the local tv station asking if there'd be any more episodes and being very disappointed when I found out there's wasn't.

I have a sense it wasn't a theatrically released movie, but more of a made for TV movie. I know it's not the Disney Black Hole movie.

Anyone else remember this movie?

Thanks

Sorry can't help. I too had a movie I saw as a child that I wish I could see again. I found it in VHS about 20 years ago.
Good luck!

That sort of rings a bell, but I'm afraid I don't remember.

That's a tough one. Since you said it was not Disney's Black Hole, it would be pretty early for a movie to be dealing with this.

Could be "The Day after Tomorrow: Into Infinity". From the same team as Space:1999

First aired in the UK in 1975, and it's my earliest ever memory at the age of 3.

nnascati, please take the time to read my complete message. I specifically said it was not Disney's Black Hole.
