Haven't been able to sow mischief over there since Saturday. And a few TMP reprobates have asked me the same thing. Oh well. YouTube link |

And that matters to us … why exactly? I wouldn't even know they existed if it weren't for constant references to them here over the years from you guys. Dan |

Ha! I always thought it was a reference to some weird all-male shower. So I was afraid to even look. But, after hearing the name over and over here on TMP in jokes and such, I decided to take a peek and, what da ya know, it was just as I thought. But I wouldn't have known about it in the first place had it not been for some people here who won't just let that place die in utter oblivion, including some who straddled between both places but who have apparently been chased out of there. I am confused? Does this mean that Frothers has become so engorged with its own bile and filth that it has exploded like the festering, odiferous, and obscene e pustule on the buttocks of humanity that it is? Does this mean it has collapsed? Gone Away, Run down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. There will be much rejoicing on my part if this is the case. |
Cacique Caribe | 20 Sep 2017 8:15 a.m. PST |
Maybe it's just the eye of the pustule, I mean the storm. Dan |
Winston Smith | 20 Sep 2017 8:31 a.m. PST |
They love you too Otto. Maybe someone just didn't pay the bill. Just speculation, but I believe the original owner has been inactive and indifferent for years, and the lunatics were running the asylum. |

The main site is up, just the forums that have dropped. It has happened before so maybe temporary. They wouldn't be alone in being a gaming site with recurring bugs and glitches ;-) |

I have to laugh when they make fun of the infrastructure here, while that site chugs along like a charcoal fired tractor. And they make fun of "septics" for lacking a sense of irony. Still, I will miss going over there to keep fires stoked by not logging in. I won't miss Bill's BFF Thaddeus Mac. Look up or Google "dishonest long winded academic" and there's his picture. |

NEVER Google "dishonest long-winded academic." The disambiguation can take days. |

Will miss the purely miniatures section of their forums. It was for me about the only alternative to TMP. Never looked at the rest of the drama. |

TMP is Bartertown. Frothers exists in the pitiless, irradiated desert beyond. |

Indeed, LAF is the friendly home for those who like a site untainted (by and large) by fake wargame news. It's much less 'immediate' than TMP, and gets far fewer posts; the threads are treated more seriously; there is much less sniping; there are fewer thing to giggle or glance sideways at. WD3 is similar to LAF for 'serious' content but has even less traffic. |

Olicana: "(LAF) It's much less 'immediate' than TMP, and gets far fewer posts … there are fewer thing to giggle or glance sideways at." LAF is very nice but i have to admit I haven't been there in a while. The reason is because there have been times when I've answered someone's call for help or tips I don't always know if they were happy with the info or if they still needed something, because many of the OPs don't seem to bother to come back and check on the threads they started. After a while you stop taking their calls for help seriously or as urgently. This is just my own personal observation, of course. The fewer things to giggle at LAF is true also, perhaps because posts can be edited almost indefinitely. In a strange way I kinda prefer the funny mistakes we make here. Here at TMP it's more like chatting at a hobby store or game where not everything comes out as you'd like the first time around, so it's out for all to see, but then you and the rest of the group end up laughing about it later. Dan |
Ottoathome | 21 Sep 2017 7:54 p.m. PST |
Dan's experience with these other groups mirror my own. Very little dialogue or discussion. |

Sounds like a Tango posted Topic. Seriously, though it will be interesting to see what Tango has found in his temporary exile. On topic, LAF has some interesting topics but it seems to be more used as a universal blog site (at least to me) than a discussion site. |

There is, or was, a Random Platypus site. Did I remember the name correctly? |
foxweasel | 23 Sep 2017 6:53 a.m. PST |
Just clicked on the link to it, I've never seen such a pathetic gang of cowardly geeks in my life. Full of people who write abusive and disgusting things on the internet that they wouldn't dare say in the real world. What's embarrassing though is the clowns say things like "it's a British thing, you Yanks wouldn't understand". |
Legion 4 | 23 Sep 2017 7:38 a.m. PST |
Full of people who write abusive and disgusting things on the internet that they wouldn't dare say in the real world. I've been hearing and seeing that for a few years now … And these are supposed adults(?) on a site that is based on playing with toys … just toys … |

Yes, it's a wretched hive of scum and villainy. And those are it's good points. |
Elbow Mac | 23 Sep 2017 9:44 a.m. PST |
It should be borne in mind that most of the posts there now are from ex or current members from here. Most of the real Frothers left a long time ago. Personally I find it sad and no cause for celebration that one of the fun wargaming sites, where the Frothers put on award winning games for a number of years and where some raised £1,000.00 GBPs for charity, has been destroyed. |
