GW are releasing Firestorm. It is a new campaign system for AoS. It looks like it will be worth taking a good look at. link |

Looks interesting to me! I was just thinking over how to blend an expansion campaign with Path to Glory Will now wait and see what this feels like :) |

Hmm, GW & AoS is not Fantasy. It is just 40K with Bolters. |

Interesting. The AoS stats are all free online. Can you find a stat line for a bolter anywhere in them? Besides that statement makes it seem like 40K doesn't have bolters. As if it were 40K with the addition of bolters. But 40K does have bolters. Are you confused about the difference between AoS and 40K perhaps? AoS is clearly fantasy, it is the most fantasy game GW has produced to date. |

Pictors, I think maybe he meant 40K without Bolters? I can see that perspective…. I don't completely agree, I think 40K is a lot more gritty than AOS. I tried AOS, when it first appeared, it was very beer and pretzels fantasy… put whatever you have on the table and let's roll some dice. No formations per say, just groups of figures. While definitely not anything like the old Warhammer Fantasy, it was not the worst way to paint some figures and roll some dice for fun. I think Warhammer Fantasy required so many miniatures it was very intimidating to new players. The only gripe I have is the GW price for the new figures (nothing new here), but no reason you have to use the latest and greatest figs, or even their figures to play the game. I used my old school lizardmen for example and many of these I picked up on e-bay after they were "obsoleted"… |

Actually GW has been doing a pretty good job lately of making their figures pretty competitive in pricing, especially if you consider the Get Started sets. I think AoS is a lot of fun. It is quick to set up and fast to play. It can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be. It really is a great game. |

Pictors, I would agree… I did not see anything wrong with AOS. It is a fun fantasy game. Sort of felt like a large scale skirmish game (maybe a little like Saga). You are right it could be as complicated or simple as you want. It sort of creates frame work you can build on. I Suppose the "free rules" can also be considered as a cost offset as well I downloaded everything I used for my lizardmen. We are hoping to get a few games of this going at the next local convention. |
