…British Army's needs .

"A new military vehicle being touted as the answer to the British Army's needs has been unveiled by German company Rheinmetall.

The company is showcasing its "Boxer" armoured vehicles at a huge defence show this week and is flagging its UK credentials as it steps up its campaign to win a £3.00 GBPbn deal to equip the British military.

The Army is keen to replace its ageing wheeled armoured vehicles with more capable ones which will equip new strike brigades that are a key part of Britain's new military strategy.

Generals want eight-wheeled Military Infantry Vehicles (MIVs) in service quickly and sources say that a contract for between 500 and 800 of the vehicles could be tendered by the end of the year.

Peter Hardisty, Rheinmetall managing director, said the Boxer is the best vehicle for the job and has its origins in a pan-European project which Britain pulled out of…"

Interestingly I think UK were originally part of the Boxer program and then withdrew!

Believe MoD spend around £600.00 GBP Million on Boxer development program than decided did not like it.
