Not directly linked to your initial post but just wondered if you were aware of
"Eight banners & Green flag – the army of the Manchu Empire and Qing China 1600-1850" by Michael Fredholm von Essen ISBN 978-1-902768-33-5 printed by the Pike & Shot Society
I can't see it listed under the current sales page so it might be out of print at present
