You know-the garish, slightly impractical and 'how does that work?'-type melee weapon or firearm that shows up in movies or on TV. my favorites-The Man From Uncle gun-the first type using the small Mauser pistol. ZF-1 from The Fifth Element. 'Mare's Leg-sawed off winchester from Wanted:Dead Or Alive. et cetera. |

I love the M41A Pulse Rifle and M56 Smart Gun from Aliens. But I also like Ash's Chainsaw and Shotgun ("This… is my BOOMSTICK! The twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?). |

@Gunfreak: My favorite Viggo Mortensen weapon is the coffee pot in History of Violence. @etotheipi: My favorite home appliance is the air conditioner in season three of Fargo. Hollywood's -- or at least Burbank's -- favorite handgun in tv shows in the 1960s seems to have been the Walther P-38. Watch of the channels that play 1960s tv shows, and you'll see a lot of Walther P-38s appearing in the hands of 1960s American spies, police, and criminals. I'm sure that quite a few of them found their way here after 1945, but I don't know if Walther exported many, or any, to the USA after restarting P-38 production for the Bundeswehr in 1957. |

It has to be the Steady Gun from Aliens (shown above). It is the most "Hollywood" of Hollywood weapons – being that it is partly cobbled together from Steady Cam mounts. Or is it just inspired by? |

Richard Widmark's knock-gun from "The Alamo",not to mention the mini-Gatling Jesse Ventura used in "Predator",or the drum fed grenade launcher Tom Berenger used in "The Dogs Of War" and .of course, the M-203 grenade launcher Al Pacino had in "Scarface". Conventional, but still impressive. |

I agree with Kropotkin303. My favorite weapon was the old series phaser. @Frederick: Han Solo's pistol actually was a tricked-out broom handled Mauser. There were several versions on display at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, or maybe Yerba Buena Center -- they're across the street from each other, and it was years ago, so I'm actually not sure, several years ago. |
