With the last Reaper KS releases and the related translation of the CAV line to Bones, I noticed that they are using two types of plastic. First there is the soft, white, bendy plastic that they been using since the beginning. Then there is the harder, less flexible, gray plastic that they are using on some of the Bones figures and all of the CAV minis.

While the quality of the former variety has improved since the Bones line first released, I still run into a few that are so poorly cast that they don't merit a paint job. On the other hand, the gray Bones are much superior. The details are crisper, they tend to take paint better, and they are not prone to get bent out of shape when you store them in your favorite carrying case.

I do hope that Reaper switches over their entire line to the latter grade of plastic. I imagine the improved quality comes at a higher price, but I'm willing to pay an extra dollar for a quality plastic figure.

As long as they stay mostly one piece models, I'm happy with either.

I've said the same on the reaper forums, and reaper SWEARS that it's "the same plastic" but from now on, i'm only buying grey plastic off the shelf

Crisper details? Yep, I'd pay more for that. Not entirely happy with the softness (in many ways) of some of the Bones figs I have.

(Wish they'd lose the integral bases, too.)

I just received the Nightslip pulp figure in the grey plastic. I have a few bones figures in the white plastic and the grey is far better. I bought the metal version of the same figure and the quality is pretty close, except the Bones version comes on a sculpted base. I might get some more now!
