Coming from Germany IŽll be in Edinburgh next week therefore my question from the subject. (People from Edinburgh please execuse the error in the subject) I have seen an old TMP topic from 2011 that denied wargame shops in Edinburgh but that is long ago. I am interested in historical minuatures and in military boardgames too. Are there any places worth to visit for someone interested in Military history which will not be included in the normal travel guide ? IŽll be thankful for any tip Werner |

Afternoon Best of luck with your visit to Edinburgh. Try Black Lion Games. The proprietor is a guy called Liam but I haven't spoken to him for many years. Used to be a friend of a friend who is no longer with us. black-lion.co.uk There is another place call '6's to Hit'. I've never been there, don't know anyone involved in it, don't know what they stock. en-gb.facebook.com/6s2Hit There is a Warhammer of course but you don't have to visit it. There is my old club, South East Scotland Wargames Club who meet every Thursday evening. I haven't been for years as I'm a lazy old guy now. seswc.co.uk Don't forget Edinburgh Castle although it will be in all the tourist guides. edinburghcastle.gov.uk |

I suspect Black Lion may be your best bet for board games, but depending on your interests you may want to have a look in Wonderland Models on Lothian Road – model kits and figures rather than wargaming, but good at what it does. There is also a café on Lauriston Place which appears to do games, but I am afraid I can't tell you anything more about that. Might be worth dropping in if you are in the area (it's not very far from Wonderland). |

Wonderland is an excellent model shop. Museum of Scotland has lots of military linked items e.g. Roman & Celtic stuff. There are 3 military museums in the castle – Scottish National War Museum, Royal Scots and Scots Greys. |
