…you have either played in, hosted or both? The question came up over the holiday weekend. We were repairing some stands/bases of Dad's 800 Fighting Englishmen troops. |

This is back a few years, some time after they came out, but I hosted a few games with my full 10mm Zulu War contingent at the time: about 3-4000 Zulus and maybe 500-750 Brits and Boers and such. It's not as many units as it seems, since I use 3-5 figures per 20mm base … but yeah, that's a lot of Zulus. ;) |

Liliburlero, you may remember my Charasiab game from Colonial Barracks V… Much smaller than CATenWolde's example, but still pretty big in my book: approx. 200 British & Indians vs. approx. 500 combined Afghan regulars & tribesmen. My Maiwand game had more Afghans but less Anglo-Indians, for a similar grand total of somewhere around 700 figures. |

just a question partially connected to that topic If i really want to remain faithful to the TSATF ..is it 800 FE a good compromise in order to game, in case i need sometime to field many figures, a good compromise?…i really do not want to adopt a new rule systhem and do not want to think about something too different from TSATF |

Ethan, As a matter of fact, it was your magnificent game at CBV that brought about my question. As far as those of us who were fortunate enough to be there, it will remain an example as one of the "halcyon days of wargaming". And your Maiwand game has to tie as far as spectacle goes…. |

You are way too kind!!! Thanks very much for the compliment, and also for organizing those Colonial Barracks conventions! Putting on those games just outside New Orleans ranks among my all-time favorite hobby memories. Sorry if we have derailed your original thread! Hopefully some others will chime in with examples of "BIG" 800FE games… ITALWARS: As a long-time player and fan of TSATF (which I know you are as well) I would say yes, they are definitely worth a try. |

Back in 1983' Larry hosted a game at Coastcon in Biloxi MS. It was his new system TsATF. It was a Boxer battle over the Legations in Peiking. He had enough players for each legation. Multiple guys controlled the Chinese Imperials and Boxers. Great game and he was asked to run it every day that weekend. those were the days before sessions. |

Sorry to come late to the party….. My largest 800 FE game is a toss up between Mad Guru's amazing Maiwand game he ran at the inaugural Colonial Barracks or a very large NWF game in the colonial rooms at H'con that Larry, Mark, Jay, George, Chuck, possibly Gerry, etc, etc, where all in it. The Brits were attacking a fortified mountain top Vill. Larry's Gurkhas were storming the heights to get to the hill fort only to be outdone by his own dice rolls. That was an awesome game and great memories. Cheers, JB |
