Getting ready to host 1st day of Gettysburg for a convention using my 10mm troops.

I came across the Cigar box battle mats which work great except my normal 10mm resin buildings are way to big for the ground scale.

Constructed hills to go under the mat and added trees already.
Now I just need more buildings.

I found the Alter of Freedom free downloads which are great as I can use my printer to scale them to match the dimensions perfectly. I have the key buildings like Lutheran Seminary and McPherson barn now I just need more variety as I would like to fill the town with 3d buildings.

Here is where I am at thus far:

Ideally I think paper downloads would work best, but not opposed too resin. Probably need 3-6mm. I am considering paper terrain, but they mail you printed copies so sizing is a concern.

A any suggestions and links are greatly appreciated.

Timecast, Leven and Total Battle Miniatures all have good 6mm resin buildings.

Leven are good value, I find.

Head over to WargameVault.com They have loads of building sets in all scales. But obviously you can then resize as you print to just the scale you like.

Very effective terrain
What is the actual ground scale of the mat

We are really enjoying the game

Give a look at Buildings in Turmoil. I was always pretty impressed with their stuff.

Check out his 6mm paper buildings. He has two sets.

Thanks for all the replies.

@Aussie Andy
I have seen Time cast and Leven and may order a couple for size comparison. Trying to avoid across the pond unless there is noting else.

@ Extra Crispy
I will have to look again as I did not see much for ACW when I checked the first time.

@ David Grech
I believe it is 1"=80yrds (Based on Across an deadly field) so not extact for BFF, but very close The nice thing is all terrain is printed on the mat including top down views of buildings. When possible I would like to do 3D, but the buildings are pretty small. The 3mm from Alter of Freedom worked great sized up to 115%

@KPinder
I own sever Buildings in Turmoil, great models, but they are way to big as they are actual 10mm scale

@Thomas O
As mentioned in OP I am considering them unless I can find PDF versions. As I understand it Paper Terrain mails you pre-printed cardstock. I supposed I can copy and play around with them for sizing, but a PDF would be quicker.

Keep the suggestions coming.

Thanks

Paper Terrain do buildings in both 10mm and 6mm. I have found them to be very useful on the table fitting nicely with other resin buildings.

In this picture, the Paper Terrain house is in the foreground next to the church:

There are a couple of the smaller outbuilding/oven in this one:

Figures are 10mm for comparison.

The buildings were slightly modified – I cut out the doors and then added cardboard to give the appearance of a depth rather than having a flat surface that I don't find aesthetically pleasing.

I'd also say that Scott is real pleasure to deal with and cannot commend his company enough.

@138SqyadronRAF
Assume your buildings are the 10mm version? I would be looking for smaller if those are 10mm figs.

TIA

Yes there were. I tend to favour having buildings and figures the same scale.

If I knew of any 3D printable .stl files for ACW buildings, I would be tempted to offer to print a few out for you in various sizes, to zero in on the one that works best for you … but I am not aware of any buildings available (yet) that would work for the ACW.

Second for Buildings In Turmoil. However I recently heard they are going to 3D printing, so I'm that will be the end of exquisite sculpting in resin.

Forward March Studios will be adding ACW buildings this holiday season (when I get some time!). Although designed in 2mm, they can be scaled up to 6mm easily.

Have you checked Pico armor? They are doing ACW in 3mm.
